Romanian Government Scholarship Program — 2026
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced scholarships for citizens of non-European Union countries to pursue studies at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.
1. Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates will receive the following benefits:
- Tuition fees: full exemption from payment.
- Accommodation: free dormitory or financial support for housing.
- Monthly stipend.
- Language course: a free one-year Romanian language preparatory course (included in the scholarship).
- Visa and entrance exams: exemption from study visa fees and university entrance/examination fees.
- Transportation: discounts on local public transportation.
Important: Travel expenses to and from Romania (air tickets) are not covered by the scholarship and must be paid by the student.
2. Fields of Study and Language of Instruction
- Bachelor’s and Master’s programs: taught only in Romanian.
- Doctoral (PhD) programs: available in Romanian, English, or French.
- Language course: applicants who do not know Romanian will begin their studies with a one-year preparatory language course. Knowledge of English is required for admission to the language course.
3. Eligibility Requirements
- Academic performance: minimum average grade of 7 out of 10 (or 3.5 out of 5).
- Educational background:
- for Bachelor’s programs — secondary school/college certificate;
- for Master’s programs — Bachelor’s degree diploma.
- Restriction: none of the applicant’s immediate family members may be employed by Romanian diplomatic missions or international organizations.
4. Required Documents
All documents must be officially translated into English, French, Romanian, or Spanish:
- Diploma or certificate (with transcript/grades).
- Birth certificate.
- Copy of the first three pages of the international passport.
- CV written in English or French.
5. Application Process and Deadline
- Final deadline: March 31, 2026.
